Higher institutions in Nigeria have over time evolved with
attendant mass entries and exits. These higher institutions vis-à-vis
universities, polytechnic and colleges of education are classified as Public
and Private.
Public institutions are those owned and operated by
governments whereas private institutions are those owned and operated by
individuals, religious organizations and other non-government agencies. Private
higher institutions are notorious for charging very high school fees compared
to public institutions.
However in recent times, public institutions have
surprisingly taken their fees beyond the reach of average people, charging over
200% of their previous fees. Such schools include River State University,
Ambrose Ali University, to mention but a few.
So, Why The Hike In School Fees Of Some Public Higher
Institutions?
