The screening of Ex-Governor Rotimi
Chibuike Amaechi by the Nigerian Senate is turning out to be a very hard nut to
crack.
For the umpteenth time, the Senate Committee
on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions could not sit to consider petitions
against Mr Amaechi, it was learnt yesterday. Sources who want their named
mentioned stated that the panel was unable to write its report because it could
not form a quorum.
This embarrassing development is
coming despite the fact that the senate president Bukola Saraki mandated the committee
to ensure that the report is ready by Wednesday this week.
Recall that the Integrity Group; a group
based in Rivers State sent in a petitioned against the candidacy of Rotimi
Amaechi, to the senate, alleging that the former governor misappropriated over
70Billion Naira of the Rivers State Money.
